We all know that skincare is important, but when do you use an exfoliating wash or how often should you be using retinol?
This blog post is going to give you the rundown on basic skincare - when to use which products and what order to use items for a morning and evening skincare routine.
The exact products you use are going to change based on your schedule, skin needs, and budget. So this blog isn't going to cover specific brands but I'm hoping this will help you get started. Even if you don't start with a full routine, start small with cleanser, moisturizer, and a good facial sunscreen.
Morning routine:
Cleanser
Toner
Serum
Eye Cream
Spot Treatment
Moisturizer
Facial Sunscreen
Evening routine:
Cleanser - oil based for makeup and sunscreen
Second Cleanser - water based
Treatment
Retinol (no younger than 25)
Serum
Eye Cream
Moisturizer or Night Cream
Lip Balm or Mask
Extras:
Exfoliant - 2-3 times a week, usually in the evening
Face Mask - 2-3 times a week, opposite evenings than the exfoliant
Gua Sha or Facial Massage - can be done daily
Other products I love to use as needed:
Rose Water spray
Great for a quick refresher during the day or even a lighter toner.
Vitamin C cream
Replenishes the skin and is a great deep moisturizer. I use this a couple times a week in the morning.
Lip scrub or exfoliant
As needed
Eye makeup remover
Especially when I have a heavier eye liner or waterproof mascara on, this step is really beneficial.
Are there other items that you use in your skincare routines?
I'm planning another post soon about how to determine what your skin needs - let me know what questions you have so I can include them!
Thanks for reading.
Love and sparkles,
Sasha
